To preserve the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, the Ministry of Culture has implemented new regulations for your visit. Visiting this important Inca site is now subject to specific schedules, followed by designated routes. These measures, established by the Peruvian government, aim to protect the heritage and integrity of the Inca Citadel.
Being informed about these rules is very important, to ensure a responsible and conscious visit that will also enrich your experience at Machu Picchu.
Our company has adapted our tours to offer you a personalized experience that complies with these regulations, ensuring that each visitor enjoys Machu Picchu in the best possible way.
Each visitor will follow a Circuit according to the purchased ticket:


 

  • Circuit 1 – Panoramic (Take one of the short hikes and then enjoy the Inca city only from the top part).

    It is characterized by offering options of wide or panoramic views of the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu and its sacred mountains.
    It has four (4) routes, which take you to the highest part of Machu Picchu and lead you through narrow paths, enjoying an extraordinary landscape scenery, where you can enjoy the most impressive views of the Inca City and its surroundings, which goes beyond the classic photo.
    Each route demands a different physical effort, compensated by the captivating beauty of its architecture, the spatial organization of its buildings built in the mountain, and the harmony they keep with nature.

    – Route 1-A: Machu Picchu Mountain:
    This route allows you to climb the Machu Picchu mountain. From its summit, you can see the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Pumasillo, from which you can take panoramic photos of the entire cultural landscape surrounding the city of Inca. The round trip is approximately 3.8 km or 2,36 Miles.
    It requires a high level of physical effort.

    – Route 1-B: Upper Terrace:
    The main attraction on this route is the viewpoint and the panoramic view of Machu Picchu. You can also see the geological formation called the “Vilcabamba Batholith” and the meandering bed of the Vilcanota River. This route is ideal if you want to get panoramic photos and take the classic photo of the city. The round trip is approximately 1.6 km/1 mile.
    It requires medium physical effort.

    Route 1-C: Sun gate (Available in peak season)
    This route takes you to the famous  Sungate or Intipunku, the gateway to the city along the Inca Trail. From here, you can have a panoramic view of the Inca city from another angle. The round trip is approximately 3.4 km / 2.11 miles. It requires medium physical effort. This route is only vailable in high season.

    – Route 1-D: Inka Bridge (Available in peak season) 
    This route leads you to the Inka Bridge, built of stone and wood. From here you can see the beautiful Vilcanota Valley.
    The round trip is approximately 2.6 km/ 1.6 miles. It requires medium physical effort. This route is only available in high season.

  • Circuit 2 – Classic Circuit  (Allow you to see Machu Picchu from the upper part and visit all sectors).
    ** Recommended**

    This circuit is characterized by combining the visits to the platforms in the middle part and the entire urban area of ​​the Inca City of Machu Picchu.
    You will visit some buildings used as homes and ritual spaces for observing astronomical events. It has two routes that require moderate physical effort.

    – Route 2-A: classic, Designed Route :
    This route allows you to appreciate and tour the main sectors of the urban area of ​​the city. It begins in the agricultural sector from where you can fully appreciate Machu Picchu. It continues towards the Llaqta Punku sector or main entrance, the Temple of the Sun Viewpoint, the main Plaza, the Sacred Rock and the water mirrors. The round trip is approximately 2.5 km/ 1.55 miles. It requires medium  physical effort. Ideal for taking the classic photo of Machu Picchu.

    – Route 2-B: Lower Terrace
    The tour begins in the agricultural sector, which you must ascend to reach the lower terrace. At this point you will be able to see Machu Picchu and also take the long-awaited photo of the citadel. The route continues towards the Llaqta Punku or Main Entrance sector, the stone quarries sector, the Main Plaza, the Sacred Rock and the Water Mirrors. The round trip is approximately 2.7 km / 1.67 miles. It requires mediumphysical effort.

  • Circuit 3 – Machu Picchu Royalty (Visit the central groups of Machu Picchu and then take one of the hikes).

    This Circuit is made up of four routes and is characterized by visiting the most sacred and important spaces occupied by the Inca royalty, such as the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inca, the Temple of the Condor, among others. This circuit requires little physical effort.
    If you choose to hike to the Huaynapicchu or Huchuypicchu mountains or head towards the Great Cavern, greater physical effort and more time are required.

    – Route 3-A: Waynapicchu Mountain
    The tour begins in the agricultural sector. This route allows you to visit the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inka, the Ceremonial Fountains, the Tres Portadas sector. From this point, the path leads you to the check point of the Waynapicchu mountain, Once on the top, you will have impressive views of the Inca Citadel. On the way back, you can visit the Temple of the Condor.
    The round trip is approximately 3 km/ 1.86 miles. It requires high physical effort.

    – Route 3-B: Designed Royalty Route
    The tour begins in the agricultural sector ( Farming terraces). It continues through the Temple of the Sun, the Casa del Inka, the Ceremonial Fountains, the Tres Portadas sector and the Temple of the Condor. The round trip is approximately 1.3 km/ 0.8 miles. It requires medium effort.

    – Route 3-C: Big Cavern Route (Available in peak season)
    The route starts in the agricultural sector ( Farming sector). It continues through the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inka, the Ceremonial Fountains, the Tres Portadas sector. From here, the route leads you to the Great Cavern. On the way back you can visit the Temple of the Condor. The round trip hike from the check point is approximately 3  km/ 1.86 miles round trip.
    It requires high physical effort. This route is only available in high season.

    – Route 3-D: Huchuypicchu Mountain (Available in peak season)
    The route begins in the agricultural sector ( Farming terraces).  It continues through the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inka, the Ceremonial Fountains and the Tres Portadas sector. From here, the path leads you to the entrance to the Huchuypicchu mountain and to its summit, from where you can get panoramic views of the Inca city and the landscape. On the way back, you can visit the Temple of the Condor.
    The round trip is approximately 1.7 km/ 1.05 miles. It requires medium physical effort.
