Day 1.- Lima in and city tour
Peru Holidays package begins with your arrival at the airport and transport to a luxury hotel in Miraflores to rest after your long flight. In the afternoon, the Lima tour begins with comfortable, private transport that waits for you at every stop. Lima presents three distinct historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern. Visit the pre-Hispanic, 25-meter-tall pyramid “Huaca Pucllana,” made from mud adobes over 1,500 years ago. Explore the 18th-century downtown Lima, with its elaborate carved balconies, stone facades, churches, and squares. Lunch at one of Lima’s outstanding restaurants.
The tour finishes with modern San Isidro, and a visit to Larco Mar, the famous shopping mall built on a cliff with its commanding view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy an exceptional dance and dinner cabaret show to experience the regional dances and costumes of Peru. And if you like, you can dance too! Day 2.- Travel to Cusco and city tour
The next morning take about an hour flight to Cusco, with private pick-up at the airport to your luxury hotel. Rest awhile to acclimate to Cusco’s high altitude of 11,000 feet. In the afternoon, get to know Cusco, including two of its finest Inca ruins: Qoricancha, and Sacsayhuaman. Also see the colonial Cathedral with its legends and priceless artwork. End the afternoon with a trip to San Pedro Market. Your private transport takes you to your hotel, leaving you the evening to dine and explore as you choose.
Day 3.- Sacred Valley Excursion
This full-day tour of the Sacred Valley begins when your private guide and a spacious, private van to pick you up after breakfast. The first stop is Awana Kancha, an interpretative animal and art center. Learn all about South American camelids such as llamas, alpacas, and the rarer vicunas. You even get to feed them! Also, interact with local weavers who explain how to dye and weave the fine wool from these fabulous creatures. The next stop is Pisac, a village with a wonderful market to buy jewelry, clothes, and art.
The shopping works up an appetite, so the next step is a delicious buffet lunch to sample international and Peruvian delicacies in the peaceful town of Urubamba. After lunch, visit Ollantaytambo to explore the terraced ruins in the mountainside. The day ends with a scenic train ride to Machu Picchu Village, traveling along the Urubamba River as the landscape gradually transitions to the lush greenery of the cloud forest. Spend the night in a gorgeous, five-star hotel to relax before your big day at the citadel.
Day 4.- Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
After breakfast, take the 25-minute bus up to Machu Picchu with your guide. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the highlight of many travelers’ visits to Peru. Your guide reveals the citadel’s harmony with its natural setting, the precision stone masonry, the alignment with Inca cosmology, and more in your 2 -3-hour private tour.
Understand the most important places, the Guard house, Sun temple, and Royalty group, Main Plaza, Three Windows Temple, and the Sacred Sun Dial, with your new insight. All areas are connected by narrow paths and steps, so be prepared for a bit of walking. In the afternoon, you and your guide take the train to Poroy and by private transportation, return to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 5. – Rainbow Mountain Hike
The Rainbow Mountain tour begins in Cusco begins at 4:30 am with fresh, hot coffee and a breakfast snack for the 3-hour trip in a private van (with room to stretch out and nap). Enjoy a hearty, hot breakfast upon arrival to the town of Cusipata. The roundtrip hike to the Peak of Rainbow Mountain is around 3 hours, depending on your fitness level.
The trail is mostly level except for the steeper, final portion to the summit. Enjoy delicious snacks and a well-deserved break to enjoy the incredible landscape. If it’s a clear day, see the mighty Ausangate Mountain, the tallest mountain in Cusco. After about an hour, hike back down to the trailhead to eat a delicious lunch at Montana Restaurant. Relax and rest in your private, comfy van and arrive at your hotel around 5 pm after this wonderful, strenuous day.
Day 6 .- Travel Cusco to Puno and Visit Attractions
Travel south in a semi-private bus (with snacks and beverages included) to experience the “Route of the Sun” to Lake Titicaca, the legendary birthplace of the Inca empire. The first stop is the small village of Andahuayllilas. Visit what is called The Sistine Chapel of the Andes, a baroque chapel famous for its gold-leaf murals which blend Catholic and indigenous symbols.
Next, visit the temple, aqueduct, artificial lake, and storage houses of Raqchi, one of the largest Inca complexes. Then, enjoy a hearty lunch of traditional Peruvian food. Next, travel through the highest pass of the journey, Paso de la Raya, with an altitude of over 4300 meters, with snowy peaks and panoramic views begging for photos.
The last stop before Puno is the Pucara Archeological Complex and Museum to learn about this sophisticated pre-Inca culture. Learn about Pucara’s monoliths, sculptures, and distinctive ceramic art. At the end of the day, relax in a luxurious hotel in Puno.
Day 7.- Lake Titicaca and Stay at Titicaca Lodge
After breakfast, explore two of the best-known islands on Lake Titicaca on a full-day tour: the Uros Islands and Taquile Island. Visit the floating Uros Islands, where the houses, the boats and even the islands are man-made from thickly- stacked tortora reeds from the lake.
Next, experience the culture of Taquile in an intimate tour where the island’s residents share their dance, music, and textile art. The textiles of Taquile Island are considered an “Intangible Heritage” by UNESCO because of their unique looms and designs, preserved continuously for generations. Men, women, and children are all weavers, and wear their textiles as a proud sign of their cultural identity. Stay at the luxurious Titicaca Lodge on one of the Uros Islands.
Day 8 Lake Titicaca to Juliaca – flight to Lima.
Private transportation picks you up from the hotel and takes you to the Juliaca airport for the short flight to Lima. In Lima, catch your connecting flight home.
