End the afternoon with a trip to San Pedro Market. Your private transport takes you to your hotel, leaving you the evening to dine and explore as you choose.

Also, interact with local weavers who explain how to dye and weave the fine wool from these fabulous creatures. The next stop is Pisac, a village with a wonderful market to buy jewelry, clothes, and art.

The shopping works up an appetite, so the next step is a delicious buffet lunch to sample international and Peruvian delicacies in the peaceful town of Urubamba. After lunch, visit Ollantaytambo to explore the terraced ruins in the mountainside. The day ends with a scenic train ride to Machu Picchu Village, traveling along the Urubamba River as the landscape gradually transitions to the lush greenery of the cloud forest. Your guide reveals the citadel’s harmony with its natural setting, the precision stone masonry, the alignment with Inca cosmology, and more in your 2 -3-hour private tour.

Understand the most important places, the Guard house, Sun temple, and Royalty group, Main Plaza, Three Windows Temple, and the Sacred Sun Dial, with your new insight. All areas are connected by narrow paths and steps, so be prepared for a bit of walking. In the afternoon, you and your guide take the train to Poroy and by private transportation, return to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 5. – Rainbow Mountain Hike

The Rainbow Mountain tour begins in Cusco begins at 4:30 am with fresh, hot coffee and a breakfast snack for the 3-hour trip in a private van (with room to stretch out and nap). Relax and rest in your private, comfy van and arrive at your hotel around 5 pm after this wonderful, strenuous day.

Day 6 .- Travel Cusco to Puno and Visit Attractions

Next, visit the temple, aqueduct, artificial lake, and storage houses of Raqchi, one of the largest Inca complexes. Then, enjoy a hearty lunch of traditional Peruvian food. Next, travel through the highest pass of the journey, Paso de la Raya, with an altitude of over 4300 meters, with snowy peaks and panoramic views begging for photos.

The last stop before Puno is the Pucara Archeological Complex and Museum to learn about this sophisticated pre-Inca culture. Learn about Pucara’s monoliths, sculptures, and distinctive ceramic art. At the end of the day, relax in a luxurious hotel in Puno.

Next, experience the culture of Taquile in an intimate tour where the island’s residents share their dance, music, and textile art. The textiles of Taquile Island are considered an “Intangible Heritage” by UNESCO because of their unique looms and designs, preserved continuously for generations. Men, women, and children are all weavers, and wear their textiles as a proud sign of their cultural identity. Stay at the luxurious Titicaca Lodge on one of the Uros Islands.

machu picchu guided tour

Best Memorable Trip Ever!! Our experience with Mapi Tour Peru was terrific, incredible and first rate. We worked with David to set up the tours and hikes of Sacred Valley, Pisaq, Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, other Inca sites near Cusco, Rainbow Mountain and Lake Titicaca. Every part of our tour was well thought out and memorable from cocktails at the San Cristobal Church belltower our first evening to lunch at the Hacienda Huayocari to the private home tour in Ollantaytambo and boat tour to the Uros and Taquile islands. We visited Peru during the Winter Solstice which is a very special time of year with many celebrations and much dancing in the streets. The accommodations chosen for us were first rate. We especially loved the Casa Andina in Cusco. Our tour guide, Catalina was a gem. She was my inspiration to keep hiking up the tall and narrow mountains and was so knowledgeable of the history of where we visited. I can't give enough great affirmations for this company. They were great to work with. Written July 18, 2023

Perfect Trip to Cusco & Machu Picchu! We had a fantastic experience using Mapi Tour. I reached out to a number of tour guides to help me plan my 1 week vacation to Lima/Cusco/Machu Picchu. I number of them where located in the United States so they seemed more like middlemen, but after interacting with David I felt the most comfortable working with him as a local tour operator with years of experience leading tours in Cusco and Machu Picchu. My wife and I did a tour of Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and added Rainbow mountain whilst we were in Cusco. David and his team - Karen, Freddy, and Eloy were very professional, friendly and supportive to our needs in making sure we were worry-free about our tours. I truly recommend using local tour guides and David if you are planning a trip to Peru. Written August 15, 2023
