After breakfast, your guide comes to your hotel and accompanies you on the 25-minute bus up the hill to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Your private tour is tailored to your interests: ancient lifestyles, science, mythology, religion, engineering, or other topics. Your guide has the answers. Explore the most important places of the citadel: The Guardhouse, Sun temple, and Royalty group, Main Plaza, Three Windows Temple, and the Sacred Sun Dial. Wear sturdy shoes for this 2-hour tour because you walk on narrow stone paths and steps. Later, ride the bus down to Machu Picchu Village, then enjoy the Vistadome train service to Ollantaytambo Train Station. Private transport takes you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Once there, get ready and follow the instructions of your guide for a better experience. Enjoy this five-hour hike with plenty of time for photographs and history. The Rainbow Mountain takes the same trail back to the parking space.

In order to avoid the crowds this Rainbow Mountain tour leaves later from Cusco. This also gives you some more time to sleep and eat your breakfast at your hotel. Additionally, on this tour style, we take a nutritious lunch box, which we will enjoy after your return from the top.

Finally, we will take our private transportation back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 pm at your hotel.

The Amazon tour begins with private transport to the airport to travel to Puerto Maldonado. Our staff welcomes and escorts you to the dock to board your powerboat to the jungle lodge. For about 45 minutes, ride on the Madre de Dios River as you travel farther from town. Take in the distinct sights and sounds of the thick jungle. At the lodge, take a little time to relax in your spacious room with a sitting area, private bath, mosquito nets, and hammocks. Later, explore the jungle in a two-hour walk with an expert guide who describes the tangle of lush vegetation, and with luck, animals like monkeys, macaws, and toucans. Also, search for caimans and other night creatures on the riverbank in a pre-dinner excursion. Lunch and dinner are included.

Day 6: Tambopata Reserve / Lake Sandoval / Canopy Walk

Wake up early after a cup of coffee to explore Lake Sandoval. Early morning is when the animals gather and with luck, see brightly colored macaws, caimans, river otters, or monkeys. Next, travel by boat on the Madre Dios River to reach the Tambopata National Reserve. This protected nature reserve is home to more than a thousand species of trees, plants, animals, birds, and endangered species. During a 5km (over 3 miles) hike, be awed by the closeness of the jungle’s extreme biodiversity. Return to the lodge for a sumptuous lunch.  Then, comes one of the jungle stay’s highlights: the canopy walk. Climb the platforms to secure bridges suspended high in the treetops. Feel the breeze and marvel at the vast jungle that surrounds you. For the last supper, enjoy dinner with exquisite jungle delicacies. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

machu picchu guided tour

Best Memorable Trip Ever!! Our experience with Mapi Tour Peru was terrific, incredible and first rate. We worked with David to set up the tours and hikes of Sacred Valley, Pisaq, Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, other Inca sites near Cusco, Rainbow Mountain and Lake Titicaca. Every part of our tour was well thought out and memorable from cocktails at the San Cristobal Church belltower our first evening to lunch at the Hacienda Huayocari to the private home tour in Ollantaytambo and boat tour to the Uros and Taquile islands. We visited Peru during the Winter Solstice which is a very special time of year with many celebrations and much dancing in the streets. The accommodations chosen for us were first rate. We especially loved the Casa Andina in Cusco. Our tour guide, Catalina was a gem. She was my inspiration to keep hiking up the tall and narrow mountains and was so knowledgeable of the history of where we visited. I can't give enough great affirmations for this company. They were great to work with. Written July 18, 2023

Perfect Trip to Cusco & Machu Picchu! We had a fantastic experience using Mapi Tour. I reached out to a number of tour guides to help me plan my 1 week vacation to Lima/Cusco/Machu Picchu. I number of them where located in the United States so they seemed more like middlemen, but after interacting with David I felt the most comfortable working with him as a local tour operator with years of experience leading tours in Cusco and Machu Picchu. My wife and I did a tour of Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and added Rainbow mountain whilst we were in Cusco. David and his team - Karen, Freddy, and Eloy were very professional, friendly and supportive to our needs in making sure we were worry-free about our tours. I truly recommend using local tour guides and David if you are planning a trip to Peru. Written August 15, 2023
