10-DAY PERU & BOLIVIA ITINERARY

This is our sample 10-day Machu Picchu Peru and Bolivia Uyuni Salt Flats Tour itinerary . The tour plan starts in Lima, Peru, and ends in La Paz, Bolivia, giving you time to experience both destinations fully.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima, Peru

Depending on your arrival time, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Miraflores. After lunch (around 1:30 p.m.), your Lima city tour begins with the Catacombs at San Francisco Monastery. Explore historic downtown Lima, known for its carved balconies, stone facades, churches, and main squares. Continue through modern San Isidro and end at Larcomar, a cliffside mall with wide views of the Pacific Ocean. Return to your hotel.

Day 2: Fly to Cusco City – Cusco City Tour

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at 7:00 a.m. and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Cusco (3,400 m / 11,150 ft). On arrival, our representative will assist you and take you to your selected hotel. After lunch (around 1:30 p.m.), discover Cusco with visits such as Qoricancha, the traditional San Pedro Market, and colonial neighborhoods. Enjoy free time afterward to walk at your own pace, which helps with altitude acclimatization.

Day 3: Sacred Valley Tour: Maras, Moray & Ollantaytambo

Pick-up at 7:00 a.m. and drive about 1 hour 15 minutes to the Maras Salt Pans, where salt has been harvested since pre-Inca times through an ancient system of channels and terraces. Continue to Moray (about 3,500 m), a remarkable set of circular Inca terraces believed to have been used for agricultural experiments. After a lunch break in Ollantaytambo, explore the Inca village and enjoy a guided tour of its archaeological complex. Then transfer to the station to board your 3:37 p.m. train to Aguas Calientes (about 1 hour 40 minutes). Your guide will provide a briefing for the next day.

Day 4: Machu Picchu Private Tour

After breakfast, your guide will meet you around 7:00 a.m. and accompany you on the 25-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided visit of about 3 hours, covering the most important areas while learning about Inca history and culture. After the tour, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for lunch, then board your train back to Ollantaytambo. Your private transport will transfer you to Cusco, arriving around 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Day 5: Visit Inca Sites Near Cusco – Bolivia Visa Process

Pick-up at 8:00 a.m. and visit the Bolivian Embassy/Consulate to begin your visa process and submit your documents. Afterward, continue to Sacsayhuamán, an impressive Inca complex with massive stone walls and panoramic views over Cusco. Then visit nearby sites such as Q’enko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay, with your guide explaining their purpose and significance. Stop at a llama farm to see llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Later, return to collect your documents as scheduled, then transfer back to your hotel. Late afternoon is free.

Day 6: Fly to La Paz, Bolivia – Moon Valley

At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your flight to La Paz (a direct Cusco–La Paz flight around midday is recommended when available). On arrival, transfer to your hotel to settle in and leave your luggage. Then visit Moon Valley, about 20 minutes from the city, known for its unusual clay formations and easy walks. Return to your hotel and enjoy a free evening. You will have time to pack and rest for the next day’s early departure.

Day 7: Travel to Uyuni – Valley of the Rocks & Villamar (Mallku Cueva Area)

Early pick-up (around 5:30 a.m.) and transfer to the airport for your flight to Uyuni (booking the earliest flight is recommended when available). On arrival, stop in town for breakfast before departing toward Villamar via scenic Andean routes. Along the way, visit the Train Cemetery, the church of San Cristóbal, and small villages such as Culpina K and Alota. Continue to the Valley of the Rocks, shaped by wind erosion, and visit lagoons such as Catal and Vinto, plus the “Lost Italy” rock formation. Arrive in Villamar and visit the cave paintings before check-in (around 6:00 p.m.).

Note: If flights are not available, a sleeper bus can be arranged (overnight, arriving early morning). The area is high altitude (around 4,000 m / 13,123 ft), and lodging is simple due to the remote location.

Day 8: Colored Lagoons – Geysers – Dali Desert – Return to Villamar

Depart for Laguna Colorada to observe flamingos and striking high-altitude landscapes. Continue to the Sol de Mañana geysers and other volcanic features along the route. Pass Chalviri Lagoon and, if conditions allow, stop near the hot springs. Cross the Dali Desert and continue to Laguna Verde, famous for its emerald tones and views of Licancabur Volcano. Return to Villamar for overnight at Jardines de Mallku Cueva or Flamencos Eco Hotel.

Day 9: Uyuni Salt Flats – Incahuasi Island – Palacio de Sal

Depart for the Great Uyuni Salt Flat, stopping first in Colchani to visit the artisan market and a local salt-processing area. Enter the salt flats to see the salt mounds, springs, and the famous Flag Plaza, along with large sculptures in the white expanse. Continue to Incahuasi Island (Fish Island) to walk among giant cacti and enjoy sweeping views. Lunch will be served in the middle of the salt flats, followed by time for perspective photos. End the day with sunset on the salt flats, then transfer to Hotel Palacio de Sal (queen bed).

Day 10: Fly to La Paz, Bolivia – End of service

Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Uyuni airport for your return to La Paz. If time allows, enjoy the city using the cable cars and visiting highlights such as Plaza Murillo and the Witches’ Market. Have lunch in La Paz (Manq’a restaurant is a great option when timing works) and enjoy time for last-minute souvenirs. Then transfer to the airport for your flight. For international flights, you are typically required to arrive at least 3 hours in advance.
